Job Description

Since 1980, Peace & Justice Scotland has proved to be a catalyst for action and learning, bringing activists and academics into a shared learning space and bringing the isolated and the compassionate together which must be doing something towards creating a more peaceful and just society.

We are looking for a secretary to join our team of trustees (alongside treasurer, convener and core volunteer members). There is a degree of flexibility to the role based on what your particular interests within peacebuilding might be and we are keen to embrace a wide range of perspectives. However, some of the main duties expected are outlined below:

• Ensure smooth administration and legal compliance for the board of trustees

• Focus on organizing meetings, keeping accurate minutes, and maintaining governance records.

• Work closely with the Chair to set agendas

• Manage correspondence and general enquiries

• Ensure compliance with Charity Commission regulations.

• As part of their induction, the secretary should be familiar with their responsibilities of governance and our relationship to Secure Scotland, particularly the facilitation fee (essentially the rent for Words and Actions, our venue in South Edinburgh)

As this is a voluntary role, we do not require any formal application. If you would like to join Peace & Justice then please email us a simple expression of interest, giving some details about your background and how you feel your skills/experience would be suitable for the role. Should you have any questions concerning this opportunity, please reach out to the same email featured in this ad and we will aim to respond ASAP.
